Lots of activity in autumn at Museum Kolding

Discover a wealth of autumn experiences at the three museums Christiansfeld, Staldgården and Skamlingsbanken, which together form Museum Kolding.

Autumn Holiday at Museum Kolding

Skamlingsbanken

Kite Festival at Skamlingsbanken

Sunday, October 19, 1–4 p.m.

The sky above Skamlingsbanken will once again be filled with colorful kites when we invite you to the annual Kite Festival.

Here the whole family can enjoy fun and unique kites – both from Denmark and abroad. Fat Boys Kiteteam, known from the TV show Helt sort med Melvin, will be performing, and if the wind is with us, you’ll get to see their impressive kites soaring through the air.

For children, there are plenty of activities:

  • Caramel rain from the sky.

  • Teddy bear parachute jumps (bring your own small teddy if it dares to jump).

  • Fly your own kite – maybe even the one you built at the kite workshop at the Skamlingsbanken Visitor Centre during the autumn holidays.

  • Buy your own kite in the museum shop and test it the same day.

A day full of fun, play, and fresh air – with the area’s most beautiful view as the backdrop.

- Free admission for both children and adults.

We look forward to seeing you for a fun and breezy afternoon at Skamlingsbanken!

Kite Workshop – Make Your Own Kite

It’s wonderful to play with kites when the wind blows! Want to learn how to make your very own kite during the autumn holidays?

Join us at Skamlingsbanken on October 14, 15 & 16 from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. or 1:00–2:00 p.m. when we host kite workshops for children and their adults.

We will be making sled kites – simple kites that everyone can build. Younger children may need a little help from their adults. Once finished, you can test your kite in the wind at Skamlingsbanken. There’s almost a guarantee they’ll fly, as long as there’s just a little breeze.

We provide bags, sticks, and string. If you have a pretty carrier bag at home, feel free to bring it.

Details:

  • For children and their adults (adults must stay with their child during the workshop).

  • Limited to 12 children per session. Please book a ticket in advance (one ticket per kite). Remaining tickets are sold at the Visitor Centre on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Various types of kites can also be purchased in our museum shop – including a color-your-own version.

Nature Treasure Hunt: Autumn’s Treasures

Many animals are busy in autumn, preparing for winter by finding food and storing what they need. Can you search just as well as they do?

This autumn holiday, join the Nature Treasure Hunt: Autumn’s Treasures. At the Visitor Centre you’ll receive a list of items to find in nature. Look closely – some are big, some are small. When you’ve found them all, show your completed list at the Visitor Centre and receive a prize!

A fun and educational way for children to learn about autumn nature – and a great activity for the whole family.
